The book is then a fun mixture of Toot's postcards home on his wild adventures and Puddle's ministrations to the normality making up the wheel of the year. Toot sets off on a round-the-world trip, Puddle goes to Stopathome. Alas, such divergence in a relationship can be a sign of the end, but Toot & Puddle are independent souls and they do what they want.
One piggy, Toot, he wants to see the world, travel, be an adventurous pig of action the other piggy, Puddle, wants to be a coach potato and enjoy the luxurious comforts of home. This book is about two piggies, the eponymous Toot & Puddle. This book would be appropriate for teachers to have in a younger grade level based on the vocabulary and the plot of the story but I do not think it is a good book to read aloud to the students, because its too fast paced with not enough details on the story the students may get bored or not be able to follow along with the story.A little while ago, my friend Roya read me this book, a favourite of hers from her childhood. The pigs live in the wood, they went on trains, busses, airplanes and knew how to ride bike, they traveled all over the world which pigs can not do in real life. This book has humor in it because the entire book the pigs are living and doing activities that human do. Based on the title and the cover picture I thought the two friends were going to spend the whole book climbing a mountain when in fact there was on 2 pages of them on a mountain being on top of the world so that was misleading. But I also didn't understand the whole point of the story. On one hand I thought it was a cute story of how well Puddle knew his friend Toot since he knew where to find him once Puddle thought Toot was lost. Except maybe that Toot should have called to let Puddles know he wouldn't be home for dinner. It was cute, but I wasn't sure what the moral of the story was (and I assume there was one, because there seems to be one with other Toot and Puddles books, at least in my opinion).
Children will worry about Toot, admire Puddle's loyalty, and cheer the happy ending. Hollie Hobbie's gentle watercolors are as charming as ever.
And, what's this? "'Bonjour, mon ami!' Toot cheered." Once together, they head for Nepal, naturally, for the top of the world. He decides to think like his buddy to track him down, so he hops a train, then a bus, then gets on an airplane to Provence. He heads into the night, searching everywhere. T." But he doesn't get back soon (no surprise to Toot and Puddle fans), and by dinnertime, Toot is worried. The story begins with a note from Toot, "Puds, Gone for a walk.
